| Description: | This conference will launch the revised Learning to Manage Health Information: a theme for clinical education, (2009). We will be highlighting the significance of this work not only for the clinicians of today but also tomorrow's NHS. We are pleased to announce the following speakers: - Dr Maureen Baker; Education Lead for the National Patient Safety Agency in the UK and National Clinical Lead for Patient Safety in NHS Connecting for Health - Di Millen, Head of Health Informatics Development, NHS Connecting for Health - Dr Mark Davies: Executive Medical Director, The NHS Information Centre for Health & Social Care - Suzanne Truttero, Midwifery Adviser, CNO Directorate, Department of Health The conference will also focus on enabling and supporting the implementation of the Learning to Manage guidance. There will be a range of workshops led by nationally renowned clinical educators and innovators from a variety of disciplines, who will demonstrate and discuss practical ways to include health informatics into clinical education. Opportunities to network, examine solutions and find tools to use in teaching sessions will also be provided. Workshop Sessions include: - Designing a Health Informatics Teaching Session - Jeannette Murphy, Senior Research Fellow, CHIME, University College London - Introducing Clinical Information Systems (CIS) into the undergraduate clinical curriculum - Sue Clamp, Director of the Yorkshire Centre for Health Informatics - Using simulated electronic health records in clinical education - Rod Ward, Senior Lecturer University of the West of England - Finding a solution to HI Educator/Teacher/Facilitator Paucity - Paula Procter, Reader in Informatics and Telematics in Nursing, School of Nursing and Midwifery. University of Sheffield - Embedding record standards in the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum: why, what and how? Prof John Williams, Director of Health Informatics at the Royal College of Physicians - Patient access to records and the current teaching model - Dr Brian Fisher & Dr Amir Hannon, GPs - Challenges facing clinical educators -NHS Connecting for Health There will several displays plus café conversations in the refreshment area where delegates will be able to discuss issues relating to their work and network with other delegates. This is a unique chance to meet others interested in this area, both educators and clinicians across all professions. We will also be having a graffiti board and there is an invitation for all participants to bring information about their own work. |
